PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Annual NMRA Train Show

March 28 and 29 will be this year’s date for the annual Rock River Valley Division Train Show at Belvidere North school campus on Beloit Road on the northwest side of Belvidere, Illinois.

I will handle the set up this year and figure on being there around 8am. If you wish to help out for the day, please let me know that I can arrange for your personal pass badge. We can use two assistants on Saturday and two assistants for Sunday when the doors open once again at 10am until 4pm. I cannot arrive until after church on Sunday, thus if the Sunday helpers can be there from open until I arrive, that would be great. I will be there for packing up at the end of the day.

Assistants will meet and greet folks visiting our NWI display and can feel free to explore the many model railroad displays, vendor tables and operating layouts of all scales.
We are most grateful to the RRVD for the annual invite to participate at their train shows.

Golden Anniversary Pins

The NWI Chapter has a limited supply of
“Railph” lapel pins for $5.00 each available now. They will be on sale at Chapter meetings and events. If it is difficult to attend a Chapter meeting, you can order them via the Chapter P.O. Box for $5.00 plus $5.00 for shipping and handling. Make your check out to the NWI Chapter.

NWI Dues are due

Annual NWI-NRHS membership dues renewal is underway. NWI membership is $20.00. NRHS dues remain at $50.00 for 2020. A subscription to the NWL newsletter is $20.

Treasurer’s Report

The treasury of the chapter had a problem with the post office. The big deposit made after the November meeting had the USPS destroying the envelope that was sent to the bank. Some checks were destroyed and others were damaged. The contents were sent to the bank, who then sent all contents to our PO Box.

Since there was no meeting in December, the PO Box was not emptied. Attention of this problem came to light in early January. There was not enough time to be included in the January NWL. Checks were taken to the bank the day after the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Some had to be processed by hand. So by now all checks should have cleared your bank.

Please be sure and to check that your check has cleared. In total between reissued checks and those deposited, we have $20 missing. That means that there is one check missing. Please let Lloyd or Jerry know if your check has not been paid by your bank.

Greg Anderson

NWL subscriber and friend Greg Anderson passed away suddenly January 15, 2020 at the age of 60.
Greg was an avid model railroader and a part of the Rockford O-Scalers. He most enjoyed the Milwaukee Road.
