NWI CHAPTER
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
March 2021 from
Jerry Pyfer

NWI-NRHS Membership

Several NWI-NRHS chapter members dropped their National membership about five years ago when the National was in somewhat of a turmoil. I can understand their thinking as they thought they were paying more for less.

Over those past five years or so, the NRHS has made a turnaround for the better. Their financial house is back in order. The NRHS is providing financial support for numerous preservation projects. I might suggest that those who backed away, should reconsider when the renewals come around this fall.

Joint NWI-Wisconsin Chapter Meeting

NWI members will have a quick turnaround between the April meeting, until the joint NWI-Wisconsin Chapter meeting on May 8th at 7pm.

NWI folks have two ways to participate in the meeting. We will broadcast the Wisconsin end of the meeting on the big screen at St. Mark’s Church. You may also join in via a Zoom meeting through the Wisconsin Chapter invite email.

We will publish the email address for you to do so in the April NWL. They will then send you the link.

NWI Editor Change
With a growing family, Erik Rasmussen pulled the pin from the Northwestern Limited newsletter editorship to devote more time to the kids and Daddy duties. We say thank you to Erik for his 13 years as editor of the NWL.

For the time being, I will handle the newsletter. If you have interesting article ideas, please send them to me now.

NWI Meeting Protocols
Our chapter meetings will have protocols in place that we will adhere to. These are mandated by local governments and not a bad idea to boot.
1. You must wear a face mask properly.
2. Your temperature will be checked and you need to register in. This is required by St. Mark’s Church.
3. We are limited to 50 attendees.
4. There will be scattered seating. You may join folks you arrive with, otherwise please do not rearrange the chairs to form groups.
5. If you cannot follow these guidelines, please reconsider your attendance.

Railfanning is…taking the grandkids to one playground or the other based upon the chances of a train going by.
