NWI
CHAPTER
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
June 2021 from
Jerry Pyfer
NWI Business
The NWI Chapter dues renewal season is over. We now stand with 36 NRHS
members and 57 NWL subscribers.
This was how it looked last month, however after further review. We stand
at 29 NRHS members and 64 subscribers.
Treasurer Lloyd Rinehart received an updated membership list from the
NRHS which does not agree with my head count. The primary reason for the
discrepancy is subscribers who have not notified us they have dropped
out of the NRHS.
I thank those who remained with us as a subscriber. When the next dues
renewal season rolls around, please inform us whether you are still a
member of the NRHS. Being a subscriber to our North Western Limited does
not make you a member of the National, unless you are a current NRHS member
thru another chapter.
The same goes for those members of the NRHS thru another chapter, please
let us know which other chapter that you are a NRHS member.
As our membership ranks diminish, the Wisconsin Chapter (WC) ranks are
growing quite well. The WC has gone to virtual meetings which can reach
out across the country, whereas in-person meetings are limited those in
the region. I have attended several Zoom meetings with participants from
the east coast to the west coast.
Another attraction of the WC is their monthly slide shows separate from
the regular meetings hosted via Zoom meetings as well. President Mike
Yuhas lines up five 15-minute programs that can draw from across the country
as well. Once both the regular meeting and slide shows are officially
over, the “room” remains open for participants to talk with
anyone still on board.
The meeting programs and slide shows are recorded to watch later on their
You Tube internet site.
For a new period of membership growth for the NWI Chapter, is this electronic
forum something we should look into? It will certainly take more than
one person to coordinate.
Mail Service
Subscriber Bill Eley related to me that he just received his April newsletter,
this was May 8 th!
I strive to place the NWL 11-12 days prior to a meeting date into the
mail box. The rest is up to the old PO.
As we use to say at the ole PO, “We took the service out of United
States Postal Service to save you money.”
Is this the kind of NWL you want?
The content of the NWL can change with editor changes. We try to include
news and stories that are of interest to you, the reader.
I have gone to include more personal stories about railfanning to give
you ideas about where you could head trackside. I will also include released
news items that would be of our region’s interest.
So, is this the type of NWL that you enjoy, let me know and if not how
I can improve it.
