Running Extra Zoom

The NWI Chapter Running Extra for May 23rd was a nice show with unexpected photography and technicalities. Out of 25 invitees, there were ten participants.

The program was slated to run three 20-minute programs. As the first program, “Gordie’s Gold” came to the nearly one hour point, I posed the question to the audience about cutting it off or continuing, we continued. Upon completion of Gordie’s Gold, we took a five-minute intermission.

Gilbert Sebenste’s “Night Moves” program was a study in night time railroad photography. Many stunners filled the viewer’s screens.

By now it was 9:30pm and we had enough for one night. The “50 Years or so, along the KD” will be offered again at a later date.

Several observations: I reviewed the recorded presentations with mixed feelings. I liked the presentations and the content. I need to improve my appearance on screen. I also need to control the ambient sounds (telephone calls, dogs barking outside, my dog prancing across the kitchen floor,, neighborhood kids playing outside. It’s always better to have the sounds of kids playing than gun shots!) that ended up ruining the sound aspect of the recording. There is also a sidebar of guests enjoying the program. The problem is it cuts off the side of the image on the screen. I need to learn how to hide that feature.

It was a nice event in that I didn’t have to load up equipment, get in the car and drive to the show place, set up the equipment nor pack up equipment and drive home later. Just turn off the lights and lock the back door.

I discovered trying to put three programs in one hour is like trying to put a five pound ham in a three pound can. It just wasn’t going to work. I have participated in such Zooms limited to fifteen minutes per presentation. It works, but the flow just gets going and it’s time to stop. Thus, we will offer two programs per evening.

The next Running Extra will be Monday, July 27th, 7PM. Yes, you can tell your friends.
