NWI Chapter Officer and Board of Directors Nominating Committee

The NWI Chapter will seek the nominations of Officers and Board of Directors to take place at the October 24, 2026 regular Chapter meeting.

This will require assembling a committee to share nominations at the regular September 26th Chapter meeting. Committee participants will need to be Chapter-NRHS members. It is not a difficult task. We need one current officer as part of the committee.

The Chapter elections will take place during the Annual Business Meeting in November. Terms run for two-years

Department of Corrections

NWIer Robert Schmidt informed me of inaccurate information about the Silver View Observation-Dome car in the July issue of the NWL.

The Silver View was built in 1947 as part of the new train sets going to the Twin Cities Zephyr. The TCZ sets went to the Nebraska Zephyr. One of the NZ sets resides at IRM seeing frequent service.

When I get a correction about an NWL article, I know you are reading it. And not just lining your bird cage with it.

NRHS photo change

A few years ago, I asked the National to change our NRHS website photo to better reflect the NWI Chapter.

I have asked them to once again change our photo. You will find our Silver View passenger car check presentation photo recorded at Oregon, Illinois in June 2026 on the NRHS website, go to “All Chapters”. You then go down to Illinois.
